Compliance Dismissals

These dismissals have many terms and are not always a defendant’s right. These dismissals are valid if the defendant appears on or before the required appearance date and meets the terms. Fees for compliance dismissals are payable immediately by cash, check, money order or credit card.

Types of Dismissals:

Expired Driver’s License

If you receive a citation for Expired Driver’s License, and if you meet the following terms it is the Judge’s discretion to dismiss your case:

  • Renew your license within 20 business days of the date you were charged or by the date on the bottom of your citation.
  • Provide proof to the Court of your new renewed license.
  • Present the license renewal noted above with $20.00 dismissal fee NOT later than the 20th business day following the issuance date of your citation or by the date on the bottom of your citation.

Expired Vehicle Registration

If you receive a citation for Expired Vehicle Registration, if you meet the following terms it is the Judge’s discretion to dismiss your case:

  • Renew your registration within 20 business days of the date you were charged or by the date on the bottom of your citation.
  • Provide a legible receipt of registration that clearly identifies the vehicle in violation and the payment of the required penalty fee to the Tax Assessor-Collector.
  • Present the receipt noted above with $20.00 dismissal fee NOT later than the 20th business day following the issuance date of your citation or by the date on the bottom of your citation.
  • Must have stamp from the Tax Assessor’s office indicating a penalty fee was paid to them.

Failure to Report Address Change

The offense of Fail to Report Address Change may be dismissed by the Judge if you meet the following terms:

  • Proof of correction is shown to the Court within 20 days from the issuance date of the citation or by the date on the bottom of your citation.
  • A $20 dismissal fee is paid

No Driver’s License on Person

If you receive a citation for No Driver’s License on Person, you can get your citation dismissed with a $10 fee by :

  • Presenting proof of a valid driver’s license as required by law within 20 business days of the citation or by the date on the bottom of the citation.
    • Driver’s license must have been valid at time citation was issued.

Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No Insurance)

If you receive a citation for no insurance, you can get your violation dismissed by presenting proof to the court that you did in fact have valid insurance on the date and time the citation was issued. You must:

  • present proof to the court within 20 business days of the citation or by the date on the bottom of your citation. 

The court must call and verify the insurance with the insurance company. If the insurance company verifies the insurance, the violation will be dismissed with no charge. If the court is unable to verify coverage for the date and time of the violation, your case will be set for a hearing.

Equipment Violation (Non Commercial Motor Vehicle)

May be applicable for dismissal if you meet the following terms:

  •  Proof of correction of the violation is shown to the Court within 20 business days from the issuance date of the citation or by the date on the bottom of your citation.
    • Acceptable proof includes, but not limited to:
      • Copy of receipt for purchase of new equipment.
      • Picture of the vehicle clearly indicating equipment is in good working order.
  • A $10 dismissal fee is paid

Operate vehicle without license plate or with only one OR with current registration insignia not attached

May be applicable for dismissal if you meet the following terms:

  •  Proof of correction of the violation is shown to the Court within 20 business days from the issuance date of the citation or by the date on the bottom of your citation.
    • Acceptable proof includes, but not limited to:
      • Copy of receipt from Tax Assessor’s Office for purchase of license plates.
      • Picture of the vehicle clearly displaying license plate or current registration insignia.
  • A $10 dismissal fee is paid

Unclear/obscured license plate

May be applicable for dismissal if you meet the following terms:

  •  Proof of correction of the violation is shown to the Court within 20 business days from the issuance date of the citation or by the date on the bottom of the citation.
    • Acceptable proof includes, but not limited to:
      • Picture of the vehicle clearly displaying license plate unobscured and clean.
  • A $10 dismissal fee is paid
