The City Council consists of a Mayor and five (5) Councilmembers. All positions are elected from the city at large, and have two (2) year terms. Elections are held annually on the May Uniform Election date (first Saturday in May).
The qualifications for Mayor and Councilmembers are: must be on the date of the election at least 18 years of age; a citizen of the United States; a registered voter of the State of Texas; must reside and have resided for at least six (6) months preceding the election at which they are a candidate within the corporate limits of Blue Mound; meet all other qualifications prescribed by Section 141.001 of the Texas Election Code and any amendment thereof, and must satisfy any other requirements as prescribed by law for the office.
The Mayor receives $1,800.00 per month and Councilmembers receive $50.00 per regular meeting. Regular meetings are held on the third (3rd) Tuesday of every month. There are no council meetings in the month of December. Additional meetings and workshops may be scheduled throughout the year as needed.

The last day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot will be February 14, 2025. The last day to file as a write-in candidate will be February 18, 2025.

May 3, 2025 City of Blue Mound General Election:
The first day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot for Councilmember Place 1, Councilmember Place 2, and Councilmember Place 5 in the May 3, 2025 General Election will be January 16, 2025. The last day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot will be February 15, 2025. The last day to file as a write-in candidate will be February 19, 2025. Forms and additional information for the May 3, 2025 General Election will be available in early January 2025.
May 2, 2026 City of Blue Mound General Election:
The first day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot for Mayor, Councilmember Place 3, and Councilmember Place 4 in the May 2, 2026 General Election will be January 14, 2026. The last day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot will be February 13, 2026. The last day to file as a write-in candidate will be February 17, 2026. Forms and additional information for the May 2, 2026 General Election will be available in early January 2026.
May 1, 2027 City of Blue Mound General Election:
The first day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot for Councilmember Place 1, Councilmember Place 2, and Councilmember Place 5 in the May 1, 2027 General Election will be January 13, 2027. The last day to file an Application for a Place on the Ballot will be February 12, 2027. The last day to file as a write-in candidate will be February 16, 2027. Forms and additional information for the May 1, 2027 General Election will be available in early January 2027.
